My educational philosophy is based on my life experiences and learnings from others.
First and foremost, school should be a place where students and staff want to be, which means it is welcoming and fun! All children will be taught with respect, kindness and high expectations with high quality relationships and instruction. Each of us has the ability to make a positive difference in each life we touch. Decades of research make it clear that emotion drives learning, and learning is maximized when students are safe, happy and relaxed! Knowing all 550 students by name was always a hallmark of my leadership; because of this, students (and their parents/guardians) knew that I cared about and saw each of them.
Be clear on your direction and path. Words and actions will be aligned with this direction. Students deserve and are counting on adults to provide them with the best education for the sake of their future and the future of our world.
Communicate well and often; seek to understand even more often.
Share the leadership with others.
