21st Century Literacies
Education moves at three miles per hour, while the rest of the world is moving at 300 miles per hour. The time for 21st century literacies is NOW! We have to respond with urgency or we run the risk of becoming irrelevant with the students in the classroom.
I have embraced technology by incorporating many 2.0 tools in my professional work. Creating a webpage, digital storytelling, blogging, SMART Board lessons, Wordle and webinars are areas that I've become proficient in less than a year. There is much more to learn, and I am energized by possibility of better connecting with students for the sake of learning and preparing them for the global society in which they reside. I am morally and professionally dedicated to preparing these children for the world they will soon lead.

Digital Storytelling
After taking a class on 21st Century Literacies, I've been trying many new e-tools. My favorite is the digital storytelling. Combining the photos, text and music creates a powerful way to tell a story.
The digital story below is one that I created to share with teachers and students in my community. It tells of one of my favorite charities, Project Night Night. Hundreds of my students will be donating their Read and Be Well books to this charity. Watching the students reaction, it was obvious that the young authors are proud that their one-of-a-kind published books will go to such a great cause.

This second video was created to culminate the Galileo Teacher Leader Academy. It reflects the voices of my colleagues and me in this time of difficulty in our field of service, and reminds the viewer of the importance of action and attitude.
